Hi, I’m Scot! I am a seasoned guitar player from New York where I laid my musical and cultural roots. About 15 years ago, I fell for California after a whimsical road trip from Colorado and I’ve been making music here ever since. I am based in West Hollywood, the mecca for creative minds and big dreamers. I guess you could say I’m a little of both.

Fairfax Guitar Studio is my open culture project, calling anyone eager to learn or improve their musical ability. My students range from absolute beginners looking to pick up a completely new skill to intermediate players hoping to advance their talent or even record their own sound. I have been immersed in the music industry for 25 years, mastering the electric and acoustic guitar while digitally producing music along the way. If you are looking for a holistic approach to your learning – I have extensive experience on both sides of the music process and I’m sharing everything I have learned in order to help others achieve their musical goals.

I believe music is a personal experience, and one of the main pillars of Fairfax Guitar Studio is creating an entirely bespoke lesson plan for each of my students. That means following whatever thread inspired you to come to this page. Advance your work as a musician and get inspired whilst doing it with a song-list curated by you and customized weekly one-on-one sessions in a cozy studio.

With Fairfax Guitar Studio, you’re in charge of your learning. I focus on building plans around your preferences.

However, here’s an overview of what you can expect during your weekly lesson:

  • A artistic environment, specially created for you to feel comfortable and creative
  • Weekly sessions catered to your specific skillset and needs
  • Curated lesson plans covering music theory, barre chords, song-writing, Open chords, inversions, major, minor, blues and much more
  • Plus, an email recap of your session, which will allow you to practice your new tips and tricks at home

Fairfax Guitar was built out of the love of musical expression, and sits at the intersection of theory and passion. Like any new skill, repetition is everything. That’s why all I ask is that you take these sessions seriously, as the more time you put in, the more you get out.
